The Essay Structure

Most of you must be like me, wondering what are the exact expectations of IELTS examiners when it comes to writing the task two, the essay.

There are millions of IELTS websites out there giving tips to gain Band 7, 8 or even Band 9 but they are confusing as usual.

Well I personally have struggled to achieve more than 6.5 band for essay question since I had no idea of the official structure. However after a years hard work I finally managed to score 8 band.

Look no more..! I have the official structure of writing an essay.  However be a bit patient, because what i am about to say is more important that just looking at the structure and attempting to jump & write an essay.

1. First of all read the question, once, twice, three times. Then underline the key words.

2. Write down the synonyms of underlined words (similar meaning words) on the paper itself

3. NEVER use the same key words in the topic in your essay, Instead, use the synonym words you have just written down.

TIP. Write down the same question by replacing the original keywords with your synonyms.

4. Planning is the number one priority when it comes to the essay. Take at least 10 mins to plan your essay. Without this step you will still be at 6 Band range.

5.Finally is the official IELTS structure below, Attempt to write an essay according to following structure.
